Carol Le Maitre

Pilates Training: Carol LeMaitre first experienced the Pilates Method as a desperate dancer with a back injury. Pilates was so successful at healing her back that she became a teacher to help other people, as she was helped. She also found the method incredibly effective to prepare for and recover from the birth of her two sons. Looking to balance her Pilates practice with more release, she discovered the MELT method in 2015 and has been hooked ever since. The combination of Classical Pilates and The MELT Method have been instrumental in giving her students the tools to be amazingly strong and flexible at all ages. Carol believes that it is never too late to feel better and enjoys nothing more than sharing her passion for sweat filled fun. Carol is the founder and head of Sanchez Street Studios, a full service Pilates and MELT Studio in San Francisco and Co founder of PIlates Education Lab, a Pilates Teacher training program. She has taught workshops for Pilates teachers worldwide, her audio recordings are available through iTunes and Balanced Body and her writing has been featured in Balanced Body Coreterly and PilatesBridge.

What Would You Be If You Weren’t A Pilates Instructor: I would be a doctor. I am a bit of a medical junkie; I love reading the mystery disease column in the NYT. Or, maybe a musician, I love playing music with my family.

 

Beth

Pilates Training: Beth is passionate about using Pilates to help people of all ages and abilities increase their strength, flexibility and awareness. She loves teaching Pilates because it lifts people’s spirits and makes their bodies strong and agile. “When we feel good, we do good, and this is what the world needs,” she says. After 12 years as a professional wire walker in the circus, Beth began her Pilates journey in 2006 at the Pilates Education Lab at Sanchez Street Studios with Carol LeMaitre and Sharon Gallagher-Rivera. From 2007-2018 she was co-owner of the Pilates Collective of SF where she worked alongside and studied with second generation teacher Jennifer Stacey MS. She completed The Master’s Program and various workshops at The Pilates Center of Boulder from 2009-2013. In 2018, she was part of Cara Reeser’s Heritage Program, learning the work of Pilates elder Kathleen Stanford Grant. She continues to study with Cara.

Nadia

Pilates Training: Nadia began her comprehensive teacher-training in 2012 at the Pilates Education Lab in San Francisco, under the direction of Carol LeMaitre and Sharon Gallagher-Rivera, whose classical training comes from direct lineage to Joseph Pilates. She graduated in 2014 and additionally did continuing education in: anatomy and physiology, diastasis recti rehabilitation, fascial web and lines, pelvic floor and breathing, spine, hip, shoulder and core musculature. To gain clinical experience, Nadia interned in physical and occupational therapy at the John Muir Medical Center, and in 2015 she began her study of Orthopedic Manual Therapy with Tom Hendrickson.

Pilates Training: My Pilates journey started in 2009 in Mexico when I took my first reformer class and I was hooked. For the last decade I have been moving around the world with my husband and became a mom of two girls; during this time I always tried to keep an active lifestyle and included Pilates workouts. While living in Sydney I started practicing Pilates in a more profound and constant way under the wing of Jenny Burgess a 2nd generation Pilates Teacher. In 2017 we relocated to San Francisco where after a thorough research I came across to one of the best classical pilates studios in the city: Sanchez Street Studios. Carol and her team inspired me to go deep into the Pilates method and in January 2019 I began training as a Pilates Instructor through the Pilates Education Lab under Carol LeMaitre and Sharon Gallagher-Rivera.

What Would You Be If You Weren’t A Pilates Teacher: I would probably be a holistic nutritionist, I find it extremely interesting how food impacts our physical and mental health and also its healing powers.

Pilates Training: Danielle Williams was introduced to Pilates in 2000, when her then-boyfriend and now life partner was just completing his Pilates Teacher Training program. It was love right from the start—of the boyfriend and of Pilates. Her love for Pilates became even stronger when she met Sharon Gallagher-Rivera and experienced the transformative power of the Pilates Method in a deeper way than she ever had before. Danielle began her comprehensive teacher training in early 2020 with the Pilates Education Lab, under the direction of Sharon and Carol LeMaitre.
